“Periodontal Plastic Surgery to Assist the Entire Surgical Team”
If the surrounding gingival tissue and bone is deficient, even the best looking dentistry can suffer. What Dr. Peter Nordland can contribute to the dental team is the coordination between the restorative dentist-periodontist-oral surgeons to allow the team the ability to achieve the highest esthetic restorative potential. Many innovations with modern pontic designs, implant esthetics, changing the gummy smile, root coverage and papilla reconstruction can improve the final restorative outcome. When Dr. Nordland presents his information, the surgeon benefits because the restorative doctors now can realize that new surgical treatments are possible and achievable. The restorative dentist benefits since the overall case outcome is enhanced and treatment satisfaction is increased. The patient is the ultimate beneficiary with a rewarding result.
Upon completion of this course, the attendee should:
- Be familiar with the variety of oral plastic surgical procedures available today
- Describe indications for oral plastic surgery
- Have a scientific basis for esthetic reconstructive surgery
- Develop a biologic basis for choices of regenerative tissues used for gingival augmentation
